I just got back from camping today. I knew that fall is almost here and I wanted to get to the great outdoors before the weather changed. We decided to set out Saturday afternoon, drive about an hour away and camp. I was expecting a peaceful, relaxing time with my wife where we could go 4wheeling, read books, play games, and then come back late sunday.

I loved being able to drive my turbo diesel Cummins even that short our trip. We finally made it there. We built a fire, roasted hot dogs, smores, and then went to bed. During the night we both woke up to rain. See, I thought we were being smart by just throwing all of our stuff in our utility trailer and using it for shelter instead of having to hassle with a tent. The downside to this is that rain is really loud against that metal roof. Anyways, we basically dozed in and out all night. It sounded miserable outside.

That morning we had to gather the stove, and all of the important stuff and bring it under the trailer. What I would have given for Husky Liners in the trailer! Mud and water were getting everywhere. I hate getting mud and water next to where I am trying to sleep. Anyways, it was cold, wet, and miserable. We were having fun, and it was an adventure, but we decided to pack it all up and go home and pretend to camp inside our nice warm house.

The Ford trucks that come on to this site are just massive. I remember the first time I saw an F650 “pickup” truck, I was cruising around downtown with some friends. Then, we pulled up behind an F650 at a stop light. The truck was so big and so tall that I could not tell what it was exactly. I could not see the side of it and I really wanted to. So, we followed the truck around the lake. It was big, black, and had really tall stacks. Eventually the truck pulled over, and the owner was kind enough to let us look it over and take pictures.

Today we have Roberts F650 on the site, and I have to say, its awesome! The truck was purchased from Sunrise Ford in Redlands California. It was a special order from the dealer. This babe of a truck has a Caterillar C7 Acert 7.2 Inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine with 300 HP 860 lb-ft torque. Allison 3500 six-speed automatic transmission. Air Bag Suspension. 4 wheel air disc brakes which would sound so so cool. Twin 50 gallon side fuel tanks. Of course it has leather interior and all that good stuff as well.

Surprisingly, Robert was able to get a performance chip for this beast. Its an MP8 box from TS Performance. This increases the motor power to 400HP and 1,100 lb-ft.

Other customizations include Shelby Le Mans stripes to cab, bed and fuel tank covers. Custom side tank covers fabricated, painted and installed. Wheels and tires where added after purchase. Running lights and fog lights added. Custom tail lights. The truck has been autographed by Carroll Shelby, there is a signed metal plate on each fuel tank cover with Shelbys signature. Nice! ( Robert builds and restores Shelby Mustangs for a living. )

“I have a few Ford F350 crew cab duallies all power strokes. I wanted something that was different so here it is. The truck is as big as a house but drives so nice. I get almost 13 miles to the gallon. For such a big truck it sure can move. This truck gets as many looks as a Ferrari. I love to drive this truck. Remember when the first 2003 Dodge Trucks came out? The hood looked huge like the fords, and the grille was massive. I remember everyone complaining about them, including myself. I just could not understand why they would get rid of such a perfect modern looking body style. Now, a few years later, they have really grown on me. I might even own a newer body style Dodge one day. For now, I have a 2002, and I love it. Its beautiful, and its powerful.

One of our members, Eli, sent us some pictures of his 2002 Dodge Cummins with the High Output motor. The picture quality that he sent us is not that great, but, they are worth seeing anyways. He bought the truck at 16, which is really impressive. He even named the truck, Silvia. At 16, this truck was probably his first girlfriend. Our question is which can you dump more money into? A diesel powered pickup, or a real girlfriend? Having had a 2002 Dodge Diesel, and a girlfriend (now wife), I would say its a tossup.

Eli started this truck out right with a hx-40 turbo, 50hp injectors, a FASS fuel system, South Bend Clutch, ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold, aFe intake, and topped it off with a Quadzilla Adrenaline Module.

All of the work was done by Eli’s family owned business, Blackout Diesel.
