I just got back from camping today. I knew that fall is almost here and I wanted to get to the great outdoors before the weather changed. We decided to set out Saturday afternoon, drive about an hour away and camp. I was expecting a peaceful, relaxing time with my wife where we could go 4wheeling, read books, play games, and then come back late sunday.

I loved being able to drive my turbo diesel Cummins even that short our trip. We finally made it there. We built a fire, roasted hot dogs, smores, and then went to bed. During the night we both woke up to rain. See, I thought we were being smart by just throwing all of our stuff in our utility trailer and using it for shelter instead of having to hassle with a tent. The downside to this is that rain is really loud against that metal roof. Anyways, we basically dozed in and out all night. It sounded miserable outside.

That morning we had to gather the stove, and all of the important stuff and bring it under the trailer. What I would have given for Husky Liners in the trailer! Mud and water were getting everywhere. I hate getting mud and water next to where I am trying to sleep. Anyways, it was cold, wet, and miserable. We were having fun, and it was an adventure, but we decided to pack it all up and go home and pretend to camp inside our nice warm house.

If you are going camping soon, and want to keep your nice truck from getting its floor trashed like my trailer, then you should really look into getting some Husky Floor Liners. Husky Floor Liners are not like any regular floor mat that say, “Ford Tough” or “Dodge”, no, Husky Liners contour to your specific make and model of floor and are designed to trap snow, mud and water. This keeps your carpet clean, and the miserable out of having fun in the rain.

If you are a working man, or just a man with a truck that likes to have fun, then I totally recommend them. You can find out more information here: Husky Floor Liners.

The Ford trucks that come on to this site are just massive. I remember the first time I saw an F650 “pickup” truck, I was cruising around downtown with some friends. Then, we pulled up behind an F650 at a stop light. The truck was so big and so tall that I could not tell what it was exactly. I could not see the side of it and I really wanted to. So, we followed the truck around the lake. It was big, black, and had really tall stacks. Eventually the truck pulled over, and the owner was kind enough to let us look it over and take pictures.

Today we have Roberts F650 on the site, and I have to say, its awesome! The truck was purchased from Sunrise Ford in Redlands California. It was a special order from the dealer. This babe of a truck has a Caterillar C7 Acert 7.2 Inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine with 300 HP 860 lb-ft torque. Allison 3500 six-speed automatic transmission. Air Bag Suspension. 4 wheel air disc brakes which would sound so so cool. Twin 50 gallon side fuel tanks. Of course it has leather interior and all that good stuff as well.

Surprisingly, Robert was able to get a performance chip for this beast. Its an MP8 box from TS Performance. This increases the motor power to 400HP and 1,100 lb-ft.

Other customizations include Shelby Le Mans stripes to cab, bed and fuel tank covers. Custom side tank covers fabricated, painted and installed. Wheels and tires where added after purchase. Running lights and fog lights added. Custom tail lights. The truck has been autographed by Carroll Shelby, there is a signed metal plate on each fuel tank cover with Shelbys signature. Nice! ( Robert builds and restores Shelby Mustangs for a living. )

“I have a few Ford F350 crew cab duallies all power strokes. I wanted something that was different so here it is. The truck is as big as a house but drives so nice. I get almost 13 miles to the gallon. For such a big truck it sure can move. This truck gets as many looks as a Ferrari. I love to drive this truck. I will be adding a new leather interior, gauge pod and dash wood grain kit soon.”

We have all been there. You have a new truck and had to go to the job site or 4wheeling. In the middle of your great adventure, the sky starts falling. Pooring rain drenches the land and turns it all to mud. So what do you do? You have to get in your truck some time. You cant take your boots off because…well, you have to put them somewhere, and in your truck bed in the weather is option because you have to wear them when you get out.

Well, our friends at Husky Liners have dealt with similar problems for years. Lets face it, most aftermarket floor mats dont cut it. Most aftermarket floor liners just look better than the stock floor mats but dont really do a good job of protecting your investment. Husky Liners developed a floor liner that is practical. The Husky Floor Liner will actually trap mud, snow, and water and keep it from spilling over and staining your new carpet and floors.

If you need a place to put your muddy equipment they also have cargo liners for the cargo bays in your truck, car or SUV. For more information on the Husky Floor Liners Click Here.

The hood looked huge like the fords, and the grille was massive. I remember everyone complaining about them, including myself. I just could not understand why they would get rid of such a perfect modern looking body style. Now, a few years later, they have really grown on me. I might even own a newer body style Dodge one day. For now, I have a 2002, and I love it. Its beautiful, and its powerful.

One of our members, Eli, sent us some pictures of his 2002 Dodge Cummins with the High Output motor. The picture quality that he sent us is not that great, but, they are worth seeing anyways. He bought the truck at 16, which is really impressive. He even named the truck, Silvia. At 16, this truck was probably his first girlfriend. Our question is which can you dump more money into? A diesel powered pickup, or a real girlfriend? Having had a 2002 Dodge Diesel, and a girlfriend (now wife), I would say its a tossup.

You need the Ford F-450 6.4L Diesel. Gary figured this out when he bought an Adrenaline Toy Hauler (House) . That is why he traded in his 2006 3/4 Chevy Duramax for this beautiful Ford F450 pickup.

“Truck is absolutely awesome and makes long hauls a breeze.” says Gary. Gary had the bed sprayed with Line-X Bedliner and installed a RollBak Tonneau Cover.

His 2006 Chevy Silverado LBZ Duramax 3500HD, Allison 6-speed Automatic was purchased from Larry Fannin Chevrolet.

“I bought my truck to be used as a tow rig for hauling our horses, farm equipment, hay, etc. The truck has performed perfectly with everything that i have hauled, and i couldnt be more happy with the power of it. The initial intent of it being just a work rig didnt last long after i learned how to unleash more power out of my truck. I now also use it as my daily driver/play truck when im not towing anything.”

Performance Parts Installed:

Edge Juice with Attitude, 4″ MBRP cat-back exhaust with 5″ pollished stainless steel tip. Turbo Resonator plugged.

Exterior Accessories Installed:

Billet Grill, Cadillac style door handles, clear cab lights and 3rd break light, Recon Fire and Ice light bar, Michelin LTX A/S 265/75/R16 with 2 inch spacers, 2008 Emblems, Painted tow mirrors, front bumper, and bowtie emblem

Interior Accessories / Stereo: Leather seats(heated), Bose Stereo system

Sweet Truck Chris! We Love the color!

It is a 2007 Silverado-LT 2500HD Crew Cab, Short Bed, Classic w/ Duramax +Alison Transmission, XM Radio, Sunroof, and much much more!

“Purchased new as one of the last 2007 “Classic” Silverado 3/4 ton Duramax units on the lot.

A working diesel, not a driveway queen: I tow a 30′ Outback TT and haul 650lbs of astronomy instruments with my truck. Of the 16,000+ miles on the truck, over 12,000 have had the trailer behind.

First “road trip” for this truck and my then new Outback trailer travelled from Portland to Nora Springs, Iowa in May 2007. We encountered road-closing blizzards on the way to and from, in MAY! Roads closed in Wyoming from Rawlins to Laramie and again on the way home in Montana between Bozeman and Butte. Go figure…

The truck has been border to border in the west, but only as far east as the Mississippi River. Yes, we have driven on the Beach in Oregon.

Earlier this summer, I used the truck to uproot trees in my yard. With about 600 lbs of balast in the bed, low-range and 4WD, everything was going fine. The Silverado Duramax combination was winning all the battles. Then, the darn 40,000 lb rated chain broke. I had to double the left-overs of the chain to get the last tree out… The Silverado still won the day. Like I said, a working truck…”

Carr Chevy also installed the performance and exterior accessories on this Crew Cab trailer hauler

AirRaid

MBRP 5″ cat-back exhaust

Edge Juice w/Attitude

Billsteins

Wrangler Silent Armor tires

Leer hard tonneau cover with red and white LED lights + Remote Locking integration

Bed-Slide load mgmt

Mud Flaps

Nurf Bars

Rain Drip Shields

PIAA Wipers and bulbs

Steve’s word of advice is:

“DON’T sipe your tires on a truck with this HP and torque. It will tear the rubber right off the tires. I got replacement Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires at 9,000 miles after large chunks of tread started coming off of the original siped Silent Armors. To their credit, Discount Tires stood behind the problem 100%. NO charge to me! NO problems with the replacements.”

Congratulations Steve on your beautiful towing machine!
